Katie Ferguson

Colorectal & Stoma Care Nurse.

Katie is a Colorectal and Stoma Care Nurse Specialist who supports patients throughout their treatment journey.

She provides specialist support to patients undergoing major bowel surgery and stoma formation, whether this is due to cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or other bowel conditions.

Katie’s role is to help make your journey as smooth and reassuring as possible. She will act as your advocate and care facilitator, supporting you before surgery, throughout your inpatient stay, and following your discharge.

With her compassionate and supportive nature, Katie aims to reduce any anxieties you may have and ensure that you feel informed, supported, and confident throughout your care. She has extensive knowledge and experience in stoma care and has completed Master’s-level education in this specialist field. Following stoma formation, Katie is your first point of contact for any stoma-related concerns or questions.

Katie provides holistic, person-centred care, helping patients adjust to life with a stoma and supporting them to regain confidence and independence. She also assesses for and helps prevent complications associated with the skin around the stoma (peristomal skin).

Katie has a calm and approachable manner, alongside excellent communication skills. She is passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with her patients and is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care that makes a positive difference to their experience.
